What is SP1KE ™

SP1KE is a revolutionary and proprietary pressure relief technology Sp1ke designed by Canadian visionary Brian Jamieson, using “ergomorphology” to adapt continuously to the user’s body.

What makes Sp1ke unique?

SP1KE™ outperforms traditional cushions by actively minimizing pressure points and preventing discomfort like leg numbness and sciatica. Its low-profile, durable design distributes pressure better, absorbs shock effectively, and promotes skin health by reducing contact and improving airflow.

Unlike standard ergonomic cushions, SP1KE™ adapts dynamically to your body. It responds to weight shifts, movements, and varying surfaces, such as those in wheelchairs or vehicles.

At just 1 inch thick—one-quarter the thickness of typical therapeutic cushions—SP1KE™ delivers superior pressure mapping. It prevents issues like rolling and pitching, while providing progressive resistance, dispersing pressure effectively, and reducing vibration and shock.

Are Sp1ke cushions durable?

SP1KE cushions are easy to clean, resist moisture, bacteria, and odors, making them ideal for long-term use.

Are Sp1ke cushions breathable?

Yes, Sp1ke cushions are completely breathable! Because about 40-50% of the total cushion is the space between the hundreds of micro-adjusting Sp1ke units that make up the cushion matrix, the air flows freely under the user. Hence, moisture from sweat moves away from the body creating a much healthier environment for the skin. In fact, only a small portion of the total surface of the cushion is ever in contact with the user. The user is essentially floating on the cushion surface greatly reducing friction and shearing with the seating surface.

Can Sp1ke cushions be used in a medical environment?

The closed-cell skinned foam is virtually hydrophobic, meaning that it doesn’t take on moisture, so it doesn’t support the growth of bacteria, mold, fungus, viruses and odours. Even for an incontinence patient, when soiled or dampened the cushion can be simply rinsed off and put right back in the chair.
